Mental Health and Type 1 Diabetes – JDRF Virtual Discovery Event, April 2023

We understand that living with type 1 diabetes can be really tough. Our ‘Virtual Type 1 Diabetes Discovery Event – Mental Health’ discusses the challenge of managing type 1 diabetes and the impact it can have on your mental health. We also discuss how to recognise the signs of others struggling with mental health, how you can support loved ones and to showcase coping mechanisms.

We understand that living with type 1 diabetes can be really tough. Our ‘Virtual Type 1 Diabetes Discovery Event – Mental Health’ discusses the challenge of managing type 1 diabetes and the impact it can have on your mental health.

We also discuss how to recognise the signs of others struggling with mental health, how you can support loved ones and to showcase coping mechanisms.

During the session we will discuss: 

  • How type 1 diabetes can impact mental health
  • The challenge of managing data for type 1
  • Diabetes psychology – how to make it happen
  • Body image, disordered eating and its impact

As part of the session, technology companies will present devices that can help manage your type 1 whilst dealing with mental health issues. Given how varied technology can be it will be an opportunity for the community to discover what best works for them.
