Looking for early genetic indicators of type 1 diabetes risk – COMPLETED
Scientific title: Using gene-phenotype studies to identify early disease biomarkers for T1D
Principal Investigator: Dr Ricardo Ferreira
Institution: University of Cambridge
Project duration: 01/08/2011 – 31/07/2014
Objective: This project is looking for observable, inherited biological traits (phenotypes) that are shared by people genetically susceptible to type 1 diabetes. This would allow for an easier way to identify people at high risk of developing the condition, while they are still at a stage where they are able to respond to therapy or preventive care.
