We know that working alone, it would take much longer to deliver the advances we all need to see for people with type 1 diabetes. We have a strong track record of working with partners from charities to governments to companies, bringing people together to transform type 1.
But there is still so much more to do.
We advocate for more research funding from governments and other bodies, so we can make research move ever more quickly in developing new ways to treat, cure and prevent type 1. Find out more about our research funding advocacy work.
We work with regulators to make sure we understand the evidence they need to approve advances in treatment for people with type 1 as smoothly as possible, and design research studies to meet these needs as far as possible. Find out more about our treatment advocacy work.
We need your help to make research reality for the millions with type 1 around the world. Please join us and speak out to make sure type 1 diabetes, research, and access to technologies and treatments is a high on the public agenda.
Research to Reality Report
In April 2022 JDRF published Research to Reality – Accelerating access for new diabetes treatments. This report sets out a new way of approaching type 1 diabetes within the UK’s Research and Development landscape, and centres the voice of people living with the condition. This report is the result of extensive consultation with stakeholders across the type 1 diabetes sector, including with regulators, researchers, the NHS and people affected by type 1 diabetes.
Together we identified some of the challenges facing the progress towards pioneering new treatments and cures. We also identified opportunities for accelerating access to new treatments and technologies.
