Sam Brand of Team Novo Nordisk is joining the type 1 diabetes charity JDRF as an ambassador.
Hailing from the Isle of Man, Sam received his type 1 diabetes diagnosis at ten years old. He gained a reputation as a triathlete and then focused his sporting skills exclusively on cycling.
As a JDRF ambassador, Sam is calling on the type 1 diabetes community to rally behind the organisation during these extraordinary times – and help it to keep changing lives – now and in the future.
JDRF’s supporters are the power behind type 1 diabetes research. The charity offers a range of ways to help raise vital funds, for instance, by participating in its current Virtual Cycle for a Cure event.
Sam said: “I’m delighted to be joining JDRF as an ambassador. Cycling is central to my life and important to many in the type 1 diabetes community. JDRF provides great ways for cyclists to support its research mission to find the type 1 diabetes cure.”
Speaking about life with type 1 diabetes, he said: “It has given me a community, a family, and something to fight for. I want to use it as a positive, always.”
Sadie Munro of JDRF said: “We are delighted to have Sam join us. With the help of Sam and our supporters around the UK, we will make research breakthroughs happen.”
