T1 Mentors

Learn more about becoming a JDRF T1 Mentor

Two young people with type 1 diabetes laughing and chatting together at a youth ambassador meet up

If you’re aged between 17 and 25 and have a connection to type 1 diabetes, you could become a t1 Mentor

Start your journey with JDRF by:

  • Getting involved along with other Type 1 Ambassadors to campaign, volunteer and fundraise
  • Feeling part of a fantastic group that is helping JDRF continue its important work
  • Gaining valuable experience for a future career
  • Helping others in your college, university, workplace or community to learn more about type 1 diabetes

What does it involve?

Want to mentor someone younger and show them how to navigate problems they may be facing such as, talking to friends about type 1, going to university, socialising, starting work whilst having type 1. We want to encourage peer to peer support and provide a network of support and encouragement.

What will I get?

Besides being part of the only young people’s type 1 diabetes club in the UK, you will also get a certificate once you have completed your stage three tasks. You can also use your time volunteering as a reference for future career prospects.
