Exercising for Type 1 Diabetes (EXTOD) have once again joined with the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and JDRF’s Performance in Exercise and Knowledge (PEAK) programme to offer another interactive day of education focusing on type 1 diabetes and exercise.
This impactful training day is run exclusively for healthcare professionals (HCPs). It was created after a number of surveys demonstrated that both people with type 1 diabetes as well as HCPs caring for them wanted such a programme. Last years meeting was rated as either excellent or good by 99% of attendees, and 80% stating they would recommend it to colleagues.
Building on the huge success of last year’s conference, this one-day event will bring together up to 200 HCPs to hear expert speakers including Dr Rob Andrews, Dr Ian Gallen, Dr Alistair Lumb and Dr Parth Narendren deliver a programme that aims to continue to break new ground in education for type 1 diabetes. The meeting will include sessions on sports nutrition, diabetes technology (including Libre) and exercise. Breaking data will be presented from the first UK structured education programme for exercise in type 1 diabetes, as well as a one day education course from Australia. An interactive course syllabus will be available for delegates to view throughout the day on the conference app, compatible with both Android and iPhones, and course materials will be available for download after the conference.
