The Sugarplum Dinner 2019
After the resounding fundraising success of The Sugarplum Dinner in 2013, 2015 and 2017, we are proud to announce the fourth Sugarplum Dinner taking place on Thursday 14 November 2019. Once again the historic and world leading V&A museum will play centre stage for the most anticipated fundraising event of the series.
Doors open at 7.30pm with a drinks and canape reception in The Dome followed by a two-course dinner in the stunning Raphael Gallery. The fundraising dinner will include a silent and live auction with one-of-a-kind prizes.
We’re thrilled to announce that Michelin-star chef Jason Atherton of Pollen Street Social and BBC Two series The Chefs Brigade alongside Michelin-star chef Tom Kerridge of The Hand & Flowers, The Coach and Kerridge’s Bar & Grill will be supporting the event by curating the menu.
Following dinner guests will head back to The Dome for an after-party including dessert station, cocktails and a private DJ set with none other than Mark Ronson. The event hopes to raise £500k to support JDRF’s type 1 diabetes research.
If you believe, anything is possible…
‘I was recently blown away by the dance of the Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker… all I could think about was how many hours a day, for how many years, did it take for the Principal ballerina to get to that point. And then it came to me, that if you believe in yourself, dreams really can come true.
Shifting the focus of Sugarplum Children from the journey we have been on so far looking after someone so young with type 1 diabetes, I now want look at what lies ahead, and to pay tribute to the older children I’ve met who have taken on this gargantuan responsibility themselves, and who won’t let the daily challenges that come with life with type 1 diabetes stop them.
I believe that a time will come when type 1 diabetes is a distant memory for Aliena and the thousands of other children who manage this condition on a daily basis. With even just a little belief, anything can happen.’ Jubie Wigan, Founder of Sugarplum Children

About Sugarplum Children
The Sugarplum Dinner is organised by Jubie Wigan, the award-winning founder of Sugarplum Children. Jubie Wigan was personally awarded the Point of Light Award by the Prime Minister in 2016 and was a finalist in the 2016 YOU/Clarins Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year awards.
JDRF is a cause close to Jubie’s heart after her daughter Aliena was diagnosed with type 1 at just two years old. Following Aliena’s diagnosis Jubie set up Sugarplum Children which is a website and fundraising initiative aimed offering help, support and advice for both children and their families affected by this condition, whilst fundraising for JDRF.
Since 2013, Sugarplum Children has raised £1.6m towards type 1 diabetes research. JDRF are delighted that Jubie Wigan will be hosting this event in aid of JDRF’s vital research to find the cure for type 1 diabetes. We thank her and her family very much for their continued support.
